The annual inflation rate in Ireland accelerated to 1.0% in November 2024, up from 0.7% in October. The largest price increases over the year were recorded in the restaurants & hotels sector (+3.8%), driven by higher costs for food and alcoholic beverages consumed at restaurants, cafes, and similar establishments, followed by alcoholic beverages & tobacco (+3.5%). Conversely, clothing & footwear (-7.5%) and transport (-1.6%) experienced the most significant annual declines. Core CPI, which excludes volatile items like energy and unprocessed food, rose by 2.0% in the 12 months to November 2024. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.5% from October, with notable declines in recreation & culture (-2.6%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (-1.2%).
