The annual inflation rate in Thailand rose to 0.83% in October 2024, up from 0.61% in September but coming less than the expected 0.94%. The latest reading remained outside the central bank’s target range of between 1 to 3% for the year. Inflation mainly accelerated for housing, reaching 0.41% from 0.35% in September. Conversely, costs eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.95% vs 2.25%), while prices continued to decline for clothing and footwear (-0.49% vs -0.66%), healthcare (-0.60% vs -0.11%), and transport (-0.27% vs -1.78%). In the meantime, the annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy prices, was unchanged at 0.77%, remaining at its highest reading since August 2023. On a monthly basis, the CPI fell 0.06%, following a 0.10% decrease in September.
